About the Editor
Long Gone Loser Magazine was something I started in 1999 after seeing the Hellacopters live in Australia. I have been writing zines since the early 90’s starting out with a zine called “Spiders In The Biscuit Jar” and finishing up with “Long Gone Loser”. In a world where the printed zine is fast becoming extinct, I decided to lay the magazine to rest after many grueling years. I have begun writing a book on my involvement with zines, extracting the best parts from my different zines throughout the years, and adding the stories that surround them.
I currently write for the Australian music magazine, HEAVY, which you can find at newsagents around the country or on iTunes. You can also visit the magazine’s website to find reviews and interviews I have done. Besides HEAVY, I also contribute reviews to the music websites Tone Deaf and The Dwarf. Links for all my writing on these websites can be found on the Other Writings page.
Over the years I have interviewed the likes of Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx, Myspace queen Tila Tequila, The True Lovers, Fu Manchu, Manowar, The Yum Yums, Asia Carrera, The Wildhearts, Backyard Babies, Mary Carey, Dinosaur Jr., New Bomb Turks, Nashville Pussy, Lita Ford, Doro Pesch, Sebastian Bach, Propagandhi, Bad Religion, The Muffs, GWAR, Turbonegro, Transvision Vamp’s Wendy James, The Darkness, Airbourne, Magic Dirt, Lunachicks, BORIS, Converge, Baroness, Henry Rollins, Mudhoney, The Gaslight Anthem, Kreator, Steel Panther, plus many more.
Everything written for LGL should be taken with a pinch of salt. A tongue in cheek. A bit or sarcasm. Laughter is the best medicine and if you are angry, pissed, or annoyed at what’s written here, then simply don’t read it. You can’t please everyone. Plus, there are countless other websites that you can read about music. Why waste your time on something you don’t like? You only live once so make the most of it instead of chewing sour grapes and producing negative energy cos really, anger and hatred is totally lame.
Apart from the zine, I also do a weekly podcast called the Long Gone Loser Rock Show which is where I play independent music, both new and old, and forgotten gems. We talk rock, feature interviews with bands you should already be listening to but probably aren’t, and just have a general all-round rock n roll chit-chat.
I currently reside in Melbourne, Australia, and even though my postal details are in SA, I still receive my mail so if you have sent me something to review or play on the show, just write me a message and let me know you sent it and I will keep an eye out for it.
To learn more about me, feel free to check out this link that leads to an interview I did about vinyl records on the website, Now Spinning.
Love, peace and respect the rock,
