Derf was fun. I met him when John Belushi brought him up to On the Rox. We used to write ridiculous great country tunes and then go over to the Chateau and play it for John, who was other wise absorbed in some comic book, but thought we were great. Derf was the best buddy, and loyal. Once he even took me to meet his mama. Road trips to the desert, he was always game. I will never forget that apartment in back of Turner’s. Can’t imagine him cold, gone.
